About the Trust
The luciana trust Fund
The Luciana Education Trust Fund is an education and opportunity programme established in honour of SBA Founder’s mother, Lucy Mutheu Kiilu (23 July 1969 – 2 July 2024), a lifelong advocate for learning, mentorship, and youth empowerment.
Lucy believed deeply in the transformative power of education. Born and raised in the village of Kimutwa in Machakos County, she grew up in modest circumstances, raised by her grandmother, and pursued her education with determination — ultimately attaining a Master’s degree. Her journey shaped a lifelong commitment to ensuring that young people, regardless of background, have access to opportunity.
A human resources professional by training, Lucy served as Chief of Staff at a multinational firm and was the Founder and CEO of No Limits Consultants, where she provided technical and vocational training to small and medium enterprises across Africa. She was also a mentor and counsellor to countless young professionals, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical support as they navigated their careers and personal growth.
The Luciana Education Trust Fund was created to carry forward this legacy — supporting young people across Africa to access education, skills, and opportunities that enable them to build dignified, purposeful lives.
The Trust Fund is managed by ICEA Kenya, the same country where the Story Book Africa is registered, with full financial accountability and reporting available. Beneficiary priorities and programme direction are determined by The Story Book Africa in line with its mission to support youth wellbeing, development, and opportunity.
This fund is not only a tribute to a life well lived, but a commitment to the future — investing in young people who, like Lucy once did, carry potential that deserves to be nurtured.
