The Story Book Africa (SBA) is a youth-driven creative social enterprise supporting African youth (18–35) to heal, grow, and build purposeful livelihoods through storytelling, psychosocial support, creative expression, and community-led initiatives.

SBA designs and delivers programmes that sit at the intersection of mental wellbeing, youth empowerment, and economic opportunity. Our work includes storytelling and creative platforms, community spaces for dialogue and action, wellbeing-focused campaigns, and initiatives that support youth to translate skills and creativity into dignified livelihoods.

SBA approaches mental wellbeing in a non-clinical, community-centred way. We use storytelling, peer-led spaces, and digital campaigns to reduce stigma, encourage reflection, and promote help-seeking. Where appropriate, we facilitate referrals and collaborations with trained mental health professionals and organisations.

SBA Community Spaces is our youth mobilisation and community empowerment programme. It brings young people together through dialogue, creativity, learning, and collective action — creating intentional environments where youth can connect, express themselves, and engage with issues that matter to them.

Where funding allows, SBA provides paid opportunities, stipends, or grants for youth contributing to specific programmes, campaigns, or creative and economic initiatives. We believe dignity in work and fair recognition are essential to sustainable impact.

SBA’s work is informed by evidence, lived experience, and collaboration with professionals across mental health, development, and creative sectors. We prioritise ethical storytelling, responsible partnerships, and transparent governance. Programme learning and accountability are embedded into how we design and evolve our work.

SBA activities are supported through partnerships, grants, programme-specific funding, and donations. Certain initiatives, such as the Luciana Education Trust Fund, are managed through formal financial partners to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper reporting.

Yes. SBA welcomes partnerships with organisations, institutions, creatives, professionals, and supporters who align with our mission and values. Support can take many forms, including collaboration, sponsorship, in-kind contributions, or programme partnership.
