About The Storybook africa
The Story Book Africa (SBA) is a Christian-rooted, youth-driven creative social enterprise empowering African youth (18-35) to pursue healing, growth, and purposeful development.
Founded in 2018 as a storytelling platform, SBA has grown into a continent-wide entity operating at the intersection of mental wellness, youth empowerment, and economic opportunity. We collaborate with various stakeholders including grassroots organisations, creatives, mental health practitioners, development partners, and policymakers to ensure young Africans are not only heard, but supported, equipped, and resourced to thrive.
At our core, we believe that lasting change begins in the mind — and that stories are powerful tools for shaping identity, restoring dignity, and opening pathways to a better future.
Our guiding belief is simple: There are people. There are stories.

How We Work
How We Work: Three Key Impact Areas
Healing & Psychosocial Wellbeing
We create safe, story-centred spaces for reflection, emotional healing, and peer support. Through community-led mental wellness events and digital campaigns, and therapy referrals we support youth to process lived experiences, reduce stigma, and seek support. Our approach is non-clinical, peer-led, and faith-informed, recognising storytelling as a powerful psychosocial tool for healing and resilience.
Creative Expression & Identity Formation
We support young people to find their voice and express who they are through writing, audio, visual, and digital storytelling. Through our blog, podcast, workshops, and creative events, youth build confidence, creative skills, and a sense of belonging. At SBA, creative expression is is developmental — nurturing emotional, social, and intellectual growth.
Economic Empowerment & Purposeful Livelihoods
We support young people to translate creativity and skills into dignified income opportunities aligned with their gifts and purpose. Through initiatives such as the Young Creatives Programme, Luciana Trust Fund, Work of My Hands, paid work with SBA, small business grants, and our digital marketplace, we help youth build sustainable, purpose-driven livelihoods. We believe dignity in work is essential to meaningful development.
Our Focus
SBA aligns its work with continental and global frameworks that advance youth wellbeing and opportunity. Predominantly, the African Youth Charter, which calls for youth empowerment, participation, and socio-economic inclusion across the continent, as well as global commitments including SDG 3 (mental health and wellbeing) and SDG 8 (decent work and economic opportunity).
