Welcome to The Story Book Africa (SBA)

SBA was born from my own journey, so every programme and initiative remains close to my heart. I have seen first-hand what stories and creative empowerment can do for healing — in my own life and in the lives of young people and communities around me. That is why this space exists.

Writing has been my safe place for as long as I can remember. Through stories, I learned to make sense of life’s hills and valleys, to grow, and to become. SBA is where I bring together my love for storytelling with my commitment to youth empowerment, mental wellbeing, and dignity in work  — extending space for young Africans to find their voice, rebuild confidence, and pursue purposeful lives, story by story.

Alongside SBA, I work in the global health communications field, currently on assignment with the United Nations in Geneva. I am also studying PhD in Clinical and Health Psychology, focusing on youth mental wellbeing in African contexts. Learn more about the youth wellness programming and transition mentorship that I do on www.whitneymwangi.com

In the meantime, pull up a chair and make yourself at home – there is room for your story too at SBA.

Join the Community. Be Part of the Change.

SBA Community Spaces brings young people together to connect, create, and lead meaningful action in their communities.
